BLP provides expert advice on all issues of product liability ranging from the supply of defective goods, through to issues relating to food safety and labelling.
Our team has wide-ranging experience of advising clients in disputes concerning defective goods or where there is a failure by a supplier.
All of the solicitors within the group are also trained in alternative dispute resolution methods, which are designed to achieve cost effective solutions for clients where possible. We also advise on a multitude of trading law matters including product liability issues such as quality assurance procedures.
We assist clients identifying their duties and obligations under, amongst other things, the General Product Safety Regulations and the Consumer Protection Act.

We represent clients at interviews, liaising on their behalf with local authorities, the Food Standards Agency and representing them in Court. We defend clients in relation to a wide range of food safety matters including infringements by caterers, outbreaks of food poisoning, beaches of weights and measures legislation, and use of medicinal claims.
We also advise key industry players on food safety matters providing strategic advice on HACCP and self-assured catering systems. We have extensive advice on composition and labelling issues for food products for traditional foods as well as nutraceuticals.
One of our particular strengths is advising on compliance issues for highly specialist food products such as genetically modified foods, novel foods and PARNUTs.
