Paisner & Co founded by Leslie Paisner provides general legal advice including conveyancing. In the 1940s and 1950s the firm develops a reputation for corporate work and clients include Great Universal Stores, Forte Holdings and Penguin Books. |

Leighton & Co established by Lionel Leighton provides litigation and property advice to West End property developers. |

1963
Stanley Berwin sets up his own practice, Berwin & Co, specialising in corporate finance, tax, mergers and acquisitions. |

1979
Paisner & Co moves into Bouverie House on Fleet Street and Leslie Paisner’s son Harold becomes Senior Partner. |

1970
Leighton & Co merges with Berwin & Co to form Berwin Leighton and the new firm begins life in Adelaide House with a total of 55 people. Berwin Leighton is soon established as a leading property firm whose clients include Tesco, British Land, Ove Arup and Lex. |

1980-2000
Both firms experience tremendous growth, retaining their established work and gaining new clients, particularly in the banking, government, leisure and retail sectors. |

2001
Berwin Leighton Paisner is formed comprising more than 900 staff including 122 partners. |

2004-2005
Berwin Leighton Paisner named Law Firm of the Year 2004 by The Lawyer Magazine and UK Law Firm of the Year 2005 by Chambers & Partners. Substantial growth across the business, particularly in Corporate Finance, Banking and Finance related activity. In December 2006, the firm became a Limited Liability Partnership. |
